Stroller

Most stroller packages come with a bassinet (for newborns) and the baby seat that your baby will age into once they’re 4+ months old. I recommend the Uppababy strollers - they’re high quality, durable and comfortable, come in a range of colors, and it’s an American stroller brand first and foremost (not a company that started with carseats, like the others). The Uppababy Vista V2 is a great option, with lots of underseat storage, and will last you for multiple kids (you can add attachments to carry two or even three kids down the line). It is, however, pretty big - the smaller Cruz is just as great an option if you only foresee yourself with one kid using the stroller (bassinet sold separately). Add the cupholder attachment to whatever stroller you choose, you’ll want it to hold your coffee.

Travel Stroller

If you have two cars, or are going to be traveling with your baby, I highly recommend adding the Doona to your stroller / carseat portfolio. It’s a stroller that folds into a carseat and back to a stroller with the flip of a switch, so it’s incredibly convenient for on the go travel. We even fit it in the overhead compartment of some airplanes when we travelled with it. Due to its dual functionality, it doesn’t have any storage, so you may want to buy the snap-on bag attachment that clips onto the back.

Travel Crib

An absolute must if you are traveling with your child and you don’t have a crib at your destination - the Graco Pack ‘n Play. It folds into a neat box for easy travel (you can check it on an airplane easily), is very easy to set up and can function as anything from a bassinet to a changing station to a crib and playard.

Portable Changing Pad

Don’t waste your money on an ugly diaper bag that everyone has - just get one of these portable changing pads that fits everything you need in it, and stash it in your backpack or purse. Then all you need is this pouch - whether you’re in the airplane bathroom, at a restaurant, or in the trunk.

Carseat

You can buy the Uppababy stroller in a package that includes their new lightweight Aria carseat. I made the mistake of buying the Uppababy Mesa Max carseat, which is fine but on the heavy side. If you do go with the lightweight Nuna Pipa Rx - keep in mind you will need an Uppababy adapter so that you can take the carseat from the car and attach it to the stroller easily.

Most infant car seats only last the first year, at which point you need to get a new carseat.

Carseat Mirror

This is a must-have when your child’s carseat is rear-facing (as they all are at this stage) and you’re taking a drive with them, so you can easily see if they’re asleep / awake / fussy. Munchkin’s Adjustable Car Mirror is shatter resistant and easy to set up.
